New management trio at EMAG making plans for the future

A new company management trio combined with a whole range of new products and innovations – EMAG is moving into the next few months with real momentum, and can look back on a successful first half of the year with a very strong order intake. There has also been a new CEO on board since July, in the form of Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Prokop.

Personnel reshuffle in the EMAG Group company management: Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Prokop has been the new CEO since July 2022. Dr. Prokop’s appointment brings extensive expertise to the company, as he has over 30 years of mechanical engineering experience under his belt as well as a lot of management experience from a range of different companies. In his most recent role, he was CEO Machine Tools and member of the Group Management Board at TRUMPF SE + Co. KG. Before that, he held managing director roles at companies including Thyssen/Krupp in Essen, Germany, Fritz Studer AG in Steffisburg, Switzerland, and Frigoblock Grosskopf GmbH in Essen, Germany. The remaining positions in the EMAG management trip remain unchanged: Dr. Mathias Klein has been the Chief Sales Officer (CSO) since May 2021, and Sven Hartwich has held the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since January 2020.

“I was received at EMAG with open arms, and I’m very much looking forward to the new tasks ahead of me and to working with my new colleagues”, says Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Prokop. “The conditions are perfect. With its wide range of technologies for series and one-off production, EMAG is extremely well-positioned in the market. We are facing the new challenges posed by digitisation and sustainability with a young and innovative development team. Over recent years, a compelling IoT concept has been developed in the form of EDNA, the EMAG DNA. The EDNA software provides valuable data for production optimisation and quality monitoring, and is optimally equipped to meet future requirements”.

The group recently presented the software at the AMB in Stuttgart in September – one of the most important metalworking trade fairs worldwide. During the fair, EMAG presented four world-firsts while also scoring points with the associated automation solutions that have been distinguishing features of its machines for many years: The machines are self-loading and can be easily integrated into large production lines. By interlinking the individual machines, a component can run through various processing steps without any external intervention. Due to an increasing shortage of skills in the relevant sectors, it is becoming all the more important to have systems like this that work autonomously once set up.

Former CEO and shareholder Markus Heßbrüggen, who had been with the company since 1996, is following in his father’s footsteps and taking on the role of Chairman of the Advisory Board.
